SILOGUARD H/SP
Optimal forage for your rations with our preservative specially designed for grass. Suitable for use in organic farming.
- Accelerated lactic fermentation for rapid silo stabilisation. The silo can be opened as early as 14 days after harvest.
- Reduced dry matter losses thanks to rapid acidification in the silo: +5% additional forage.
- Reduces the development of harmful bacteria — butyric bacteria, enterobacteria, listeria — as well as yeasts and moulds.
- Protects the silage face against heating.
- Preserves nutritional values.
- Improves grass silage digestibility: +3% OMD.

Siloguard H/SP, for biological preservation and valorisation of grass silage
Siloguard H/SP preservative guarantees high-quality preservation of grass silage (ryegrass, clover, alfalfa or immature cereals) while optimising the nutritional value of forage for ruminant feeding.
Biological preservative for grass silage
- Suitable for optimal preservation in silos and wrapped bales.
- Improves the silage phases, with faster fermentation and a high-quality forage stock available after just 2 weeks.
- Reduces dry matter losses: up to +10% more forage.
- Limits heating at the silage face, with up to 5 days of stability.
- Reduces the development of harmful bacteria, including butyric bacteria and enterobacteria.
- Suitable for grass and/or legume silage.
Composition
Siloguard H/SP is a formulation of microbiological additives combining two homofermentative bacteria (L. plantarum and L. paracasei ) and two heterofermentative bacteria (L. buchneri and L. diolivorans)
Siloguard H/SP meets safety standards and regulatory requirements and is suitable for use in organic farming.
Recommendations for use
Siloguard H/SP must first be diluted in water to reactivate the bacteria, then sprayed onto the forage at harvest using the forage harvester’s integrated applicator.
A dry matter content between 25% and 45% is recommended for optimal efficiency. One 100 g pot of Siloguard H/SP treats 50 tonnes of fresh grass silage. The Siloguard formulation is not sensitive to chlorinated water.
Vitalac provides on-farm support to ensure the best use of the Siloguard treatment. The VITALAC laboratory carries out thousands of silage analyses every year. These analyses systematically include fermentation characteristics: pH, lactic, acetic and butyric acids.
