Siloguard for the biological preservation and enhancement of maize silage
Siloguard M/SP ensures high-quality preservation of maize silage — including whole-plant maize silage, corn cob mix, and crushed or whole high-moisture maize grain — while optimising the nutritional value of cereals for ruminant feed.

Composition
Siloguard M/SP is a formulation of microbiological additives combining one homofermentative bacterium (L. rhamnosus) and three heterofermentative bacteria (L. buchneri, L. diolivorans and L. brevis). Siloguard M/SP preservative meets safety standards and regulatory requirements and is suitable for use in organic farming.
Recommendations for use
Siloguard M/SP must first be diluted in water to reactivate the bacteria, then sprayed onto the maize forage at harvest using the integrated applicator on the forage harvester.
One 100 g tub of Siloguard M/SP treats 100 tonnes of maize silage.
Vitalac provides on-farm support to help ensure optimal use of the Siloguard treatment. The VITALAC laboratory carries out thousands of silage analyses every year. These analyses systematically include fermentation characteristics: pH, lactic, acetic and butyric acids.
